KNARESBOROUGH Town won the Whitworth Cup with a 3-1 victory against Spa Athletic at Wetherby Road on Thursday evening.
A rocket 30 yard Dave Thomas free-kick had 'Boro' 1-0 up at the interval and Matty Thompson's header extended 'Boro's lead just after the break.
Thomson made it 3-0 in controversial circumstances on 56 minutes but Spa never gave in and deservedly pullled one back through Ben Jones with 14 minutes remaining.
However, the night belonged to 'Boro', skipper Liam Gray lifting aloft the trophy to cap a fine season in Brian Davey's first year in charge.
