HARROGATE Railway have an immediate chance for revenge tomorrow when they welcome Radcliffe Borough to Station View just seven days' after their narrow 1-0 defeat in Nottinghamshire (3pm ko).
Saturday’s disappointment ended Rail’s mini UniBond First Division North revival which saw them race to back-to-back league wins pulling them further away from Salford City at the bottom of the table.
Boss Phil Sharpe is looking forward to tomorro
w’s contest and predicting a comeback in form after Saturday’s slight blip.
“I’m quite sure we can get the result we want this week,” he said.
“The last thing we wanted after winning two games was to lose and we would definitely prefer to win our home games.
“But we’re playing the same team as last week. We managed to have a look at them and we’ve learned a few things about them. They’re a physical side and we need to be a lot stronger in midfield this week.”
Sharpe was delighted to hand Steve Smith his debut for the side on Saturday and gave run-outs to recent signings Tom Griffiths (a recent signing from Buxton) and Matt Johnson who has been released by York City.
The manager also revealed he is on the look out for a striker, a position he feels they need to bolster sooner rather than later.
“We need a striker there’s no doubt about that,” added Sharpe.
“I think everyone in the league knows that. Ben Jones has been playing well but he’s not an out and striker, we need someone who can put the ball in the net.”
On Saturday Radcliffe created the first opening with Rail’ ‘keeper Liam Sutcliffe making a smart save.
Will Ryder then went close after good work from Scot Ryan before Borough took the lead on 31 minutes when they failed to clear the ball which fell kindly for
Neil Chappell who slotted home for the opening goal.
In the second half Rail’ had the better of proceedings but couldn’t find a way past the Borough ‘keeper to leave them still struggling just above the relegation trapdoor.
