HARROGATE and District Diving Club produced a fantastic performance at the recent Tynemouth Trophy held at Tynemouth Pool.
A team of divers training in squads at the Hydro pool finished the day with a haul of medals, including three golds, two of which were won by divers competing up an age group.

t scoring dive of the whole competition and were also winners of the team trophy, making it the most successful club in the country in this event, winning it four times.
"I am delighted with how well the Harrogate divers performed at the Tynemouth Trophy this year, especially as there was a degree of pressure on the team to win the event as we entered it as defending champions,” said Rosie Whiting, Senior Diving Coach.
“We decided that some of the more experienced divers would compete an age group above their actual age to enable a few of our younger team members, notably Liam Maddock and Douglas Spalding, to participate at their first ever competition.
“Both of the boys returned home with a medal, which was an excellent result and a promising sign of things to come from some of the younger members of Harrogate District Diving Club.”
Both Ellen Brown and Charlotte Goodman led the way for the girls, despite competing up an age group.
Charlotte produced some consistently excellent dives to take the gold in the 10-11 Years event while Ellen claimed gold a massive 41 points ahead of her nearest rival in the Girls 14-16 Years event.
She also performed the highest scoring dive of the competition with 45.05 points from a possible 51.00 for a reverse dive on the 1m.
In the Girls 8–9 Years, second, third and fourth places were closely fought - Harrogate came out on top with Emily Pye winning silver on 151.80 and teammate Eden Brown bronze, less than a point behind on 151.80.
Teammates Charlotte Goodman and Ellie Pawlett were also involved in a close fought bid for the medals.
Charlotte took the top spot on the podium on 172.50, with Ellie just over a point behind taking the silver on 171.40.
Competing up an age group in the Girls 12 - 13 Years event, Ellie Boulton produced some great dives to take silver on 179.30. Katy Morrey finished sixth on 159.75 but performed a near perfect dive to record the highest raw score of the competition with 29 points from a possible 30.
In the Girls 14 - 16 Years event, Ellen Brown led throughout, taking the gold on 314.30 with Cara-Jane Feingold finishing in eighth place on 200.10 in her first competition.
Not to be outdone by the girls, Kieran Dowler made it three golds for Boys 10 - 11 Years event, taking the top spot on the podium with a score of 149.70 and improving from his Bronze medal win of last year.
In the Boys 8 - 9 Years event, Liam Maddock and Douglas Spalding took take the silver on 135.50 and bronze on 128.50 respectively.
Joe Beighton kept the medals coming in the 12-13 Years event, winning silver on 150.40.
