HARROGATE captain David Stiff is urging his players to lose their fears of failure when they travel to Yorkshire Academy tomorrow and then at home to fellow strugglers Appleby Frodingham on Sunday (both noon start).
Harrogate fell further adrift at the bottom of the ECB Yorkshire League last weekend when their game at home to Castleford was rained off.
“We have to try and let the lads know that we want them to express themselves and play their shots without getting annoyed at themselves,” he said.
“I’m not telling them to try and slog the ball, but I want to see them playing with confidence.
“I need them not to fear failure.”
’Gate lost to Appleby by 21 runs in the third match of the season, despite a century from Shaaiq Choudhry.
Appleby posted 247-7 in their encounter in May, but Choudhry’s partnership of 137 with Nick Lindley was wasted by his team’s erratic bowling which saw Stiff’s side falling short at 226 all out.
