HARROGATE fencer Caitlin Chang retained her U-15s girls' epee title at the annual England Fencing Championships held at Lodden Sports Centre in Reading.
This is Caitlin’s eighth national youth title (two England, six Great Britain) and comes as she prepares to cross swords with Britain’s top fencers at the senior British National Championships.

The St Aidan’s High School student is the British number one ranked U-17s girl epeeist and recently represented Great Britain at both the European and World U-17s Championships and in the U-20s World Championship team event.

Her ambition is to medal in the Olympics. Her coach Brian Matless said “Caitlin shows some promise to be a top fencer and although she was the overwhelming favourite to win at the weekend, she had to handle the pressure of being the top seed.

“If she continues to be dedicated she will continue to succeed.”
