THE funeral took place on Monday of Ripon Cricket Club life-member Don Taylor who died following a fight against serious illness
Don moved to Ripon from West Yorkshire with his family in 1978 and his three children were educated at Ripon Grammar School. He helped Econ Engineering establish itself as one of the city's leading businesses and was managing director for several years. He was well known in the local community and raised the profile of Ripon through Econ's national and international business.

He was an integral part of Ripon Cricket Club, having been at various times a supporter, player, honorary secretary, chairman and life member of the Club. In particular, he was part of a very successful playing period for the Ripon CC 2nd XI and played several matches alongside his son, Paul.

Following his retirement, Don enjoyed his time at home with family and friends, took many holidays abroad and gained great pleasure from introducing his three grandchildren to his passions for art, wildlife, the city of Ripon and the Yorkshire Dales.

Don died at home in Ripon on July 4. He is survived by his wife Anne, three children and three grandchildren.
