IMAGES have been released of some of the thousands of items of jewellery stolen from at the Great Yorkshire Show in Harrogate as police step up efforts to catch the thieves.
About 2,140 pieces of equestrian jewellery in a mixture of designs of gold, white gold and platinum were taken from a stall within the Rural Craft Association marquee – located near the cattle ring – on Thursday, July 10, at around 8.15pm.
Police
said many of the pieces are customised and unique and most are hallmarked 'RH'. Descriptions of two couples – possibly the same people – who the police would like to speak to in connection with the theft have been issued.
The woman was described as around 5ft 7in tall, aged about 28 with a dark complexion and long, dark hair tied in a ponytail and dressed in smart, dark clothing. The man was also aged around 28 and had a Mediterranean appearance with short, dark hair, medium build and wore a dark shirt and trousers.
Two other people of a similar description were seen inside the marquee at around 8pm.
They are described as a man and woman of South American appearance, aged in their 20s to 30s. The man spoke with a Spanish accent, had mid-length black hair and wore dark clothing. The woman had long black hair, was around 5ft 10in and was smartly dressed.
Anyone who can provide information relating to the identity of the people or believes they have been offered the items should contact DC Pete Allison at Harrogate CID on 0845 60 60 24 7.
