KIRKBY Malzeard Bowling Club has won the Jack Denning Trophy at its first attempt.
The trophy was presented by Les Gill, chairman of last year's winners, Boroughbridge Bowling Club, after a friendly match between the two clubs last week in which Harrogate and Bishop Monkton bowling clubs also competed.

Kirkby Malzeard club captain, John Butcher said: "We are delighted to have won the Jack Denning Trophy. The competition has been very close throughout the season with all the teams in with a chance of victory right up to the last week.

"We look forward to defending the title next year and as we are one of the smallest clubs in the district we would welcome any new members to help us."
