FROM traffic warden to baker – one Pateley woman has placed her faith in a career change to follow her dreams.
Kerry Dinscoy, 38, is the new owner of the Old Bakehouse on the High Street, Pateley Bridge, and is set to inject a spot of local flavour to her creations at the traditional bakery.
She has lived in Pateley Bridge all her life and when the opportunity came up to buy her local bakery she jumped at the chance.
She said this week she is set to serve local products from local farmers, using traditional recipes but with a signature twist.
“It's always been a bakers,” she said. "But the previous owners were from Scotland. I've started getting products from Harrogate and local areas, and baking everything ourselves.
“I worked as a traffic warden here for eight years – hopefully I’m more popular now.
“It’s a huge career change, but it’s something I’ve always wanted to do and with being the parking warden I decided it was time for a career change before I turned 40.
“It was just inevitable. My priority now is to bake every day.”
