FAMILIES across Nidderdale turned out for a range of events last weekend as the district celebrated May Day.
Summerbridge Primary School’s annual May Day enjoyed the first taste of summer last Saturday as pupils and their families took part in traditional entertainments including the procession of the May Queen and her attendants.

Bank Holiday Monday saw the festivities begin at Glasshouses, with May pole dancing and a parade down to the village green.

Meanwhile, the first Nidderdale Book Festival begins tonight and promises a busy weekend of talks, workshops and debates. Details and reviews from the weekend, as well as photos from other events around the district, will be featured in next week’s Nidderdale Herald.
