THE annual Nidderdale Festival begins today and celebrates everything connected with the Dale – featuring a wealth of activities and exhibitions.
Running until Sunday, July 20, the festival is offering a chance for both local people and visitors to get to know the area and its talented inhabitants with outdoor activities such as guided walks, rock climbing and canoeing. There will also be an o
pportunity to look around Darley’s open gardens as well as visit art exhibitions, theatre, music shows, workshops and talks.

Exhibitions will be held at various venues in the area and included is a wedding dress exhibition at Bewerley Grange Chapel.

This year also sees the 10th anniversary of the Joe Longster Bandstand in Pateley Bridge.

Festival committee member, Tim Whitney, who started organising the festival with three other members last September, said he was really looking forward to this year’s event. “It’s always really well attended,” he said. “And we have some great events this year. Many of the walks and farm visits are already sold out.

“We get extremely good local support. We have a lot of sponsors in Pateley for which we are most grateful. The Nidderdale Festival Society is also very supportive and provides people to run the various events.”
