Knaresborough residents urged to support local businesses amidst coronavirus fears

As many people are now facing the possibility of self-isolation, the elderly in particular, prominent figures in Knaresborough have called on the community to continue shopping locally and think about support businesses long-term.

Hide AdSusanna Lewis, who runs Knaresborough Online, took to social media last week to plead with residents.
She wrote: "During these uncertain times our small local businesses need your support to ensure that they can keep going.
"If you are out and about please remember to shop local. Knaresborough has an excellent range of shops for most of your needs. Follow medical advice and just keep washing those hands and support those who may need it.
"I am proud to be part of such a strong community here in Knaresborough. We really are stronger together."

Hide AdKnaresborough Chamber of Trade has reiterated her comments and has invited businesses across town to share their own comments on how they are adapting to the current circumstances.
It said: "The next few weeks and months are likely to see many of us having to make changes to our lives. Some of our fantastic local businesses are already finding innovative ways to adapt and cater to changing needs.
"Together as a community we can find ways to get through this and support one another, our businesses and those who are most vulnerable in our community."

Hide AdSusanna has also tweeted a list of ways that people can support businesses and shops long-term, if they are unable to get out of the house.
It includes options such as buying gift vouchers and sharing their pages on social media to spread the word.
